Unknown books I read – the not recommended list

Looking at my read shelf on Goodreads, I ventured to the settings and added ‘Number of ratings’ to my list to see how many people rated the books I read. There is quite a number of books I read, that beside me were rated on Goodreads by less than 200 people. And in most cases, I’m happy to see such a low number of ratings…

I read those, but you don’t have to make the same mistake

Never Marry a Politician by Sarah Waights

My Rating: ★★☆☆☆ | Goodreads rating: 3.57 | 53 ratings

Typical rom-com with one-dimensional characters, where well known romantic set up is dumped in a political world. It is a light read, and sure, you could read it, but why? There are better romantic books out there that will actually make you feel something, and stay with you. I do not remember anything about this particular book, I’m writing this opinion only thanks to my old-self leaving a short review on Goodreads.

As If I Were A River by Amanda Saint

My Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ | Goodreads rating: 3.79 | 63 ratings

It was so bad! It hurts me how bad it was. I really didn’t enjoy my time with this book, I forced myself to get to a half, and then I just was skimming the pages. There are great books waiting for me, so there was no point in focusing on this one. Read my full review here.

An Indecent Proposal by Julia Ross

My Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ | Goodreads rating: 3.39 | 128 ratings

Ugh, this book is so bad, it makes me cringe to even think about it. It’s not a good book, writing is off, characters are annoying and underdeveloped, story is just stupid. Sex scenes are not helping the story, there aren’t that hot. Skip this book. Read my full rant here.

Nice Girls Endure by Chris Struyk-Bonn

My Rating: ★★☆☆☆ | Goodreads rating: 3.5 | 153 ratings

This book sounds very inspirational – a story about a fat, insecure girl who turns her world around. But the whole story felt like a description of a movie, a nice to watch, a feel-good Hollywood movie. This felt nothing like a real world. What feels like a fantasy is a way the whole story is flattened to a cliché and an easy scenario for a happy end. My full review and some musing on being fat here.
