The Vogue Book Tag

It’s Tuesday, and normally I post my Top Ten Tuesday list, but today’s topic is not something I’m particularly excited about, so I’m skipping it. Instead, I’m doing a tag created by The Petite Book Blogger – The Vogue Book Tag. I was tagged by Lauren @ Comma Hangover. Check out Lauren’s blog, and make sure to have a look at the Book Style posts that will work perfectly with this tag theme. But be careful before checking out those post, you may have an irresistible urge to buy some cute clothes after looking at them 😉

You are a socialite going on a shopping spree with your most stylish book BFF. You are going to be having lunch with your favorite author later that day at NYC chicest restaurant. Wanting to make a good impression the both of you hit every store on Fifth Avenue and rack up quite a bill. What book character would you have style your outfit for your important lunch date?

I’d love to have my outfit styled by Odile Graychild, character from Harmless Like YouShe’s a model turned fashion designer with stores across the globe, with white type on white background logo of her brand which seems very luxurious. I wouldn’t mind being dressed in her high-quality clothes.

You are attending a charity event entitled #WeNeedDiverseBooks. In order to raise money for the cause they are auctioning off a date to the highest bidder. The date will be with any book character that the winner chooses. Who would you bid for?

I’d bid for Juliet from Juliet Takes a BreathMainly because I’d love to party with her and her cousin and explore the world of acceptance, love, and diversity. Overall she’s a really cool character that I’d love to hang out with.

This year’s theme at the Met Gala is book covers. The attendees have to pick a stunning outfit from a beautiful book cover and wear it. The men are dressed in their finest and the women’s dresses range from stunning to daring. With your impressive literary knowledge, you of course are going to be the main attraction this year. What dress from a gorgeous book cover would you wear?

Ah no, I don’t want to go in a dress that will just uncomfortable. I’ll be main attraction because I’ll wear something comfy, good for crawling in the corner to read a book while to others have to suck in their bellies to look good on the pictures. I’ll wear pajamas and put this fluffy looking bathrobe from Not working cover over it.

As Hollywood’s it-girl you get offered all of the best roles directed by the best directors. You have more awards than you know what to do with and aren’t afraid to use your power to secure the roles that you want. While at the coffee shop you read this amazing book and decide that you want to make it into a movie. What book would you want made into a movie for you to star in?

I’d love to see A Tale for the Time Being on a screen, but I’d rather direct it than star in it. Me being a white girl is not working with starring in an adaptation of a book with Japanese main characters. So with my powers of being Hollywood’s it-girl, I’ll make sure that this adaptation is not whitewashed. Why I’d love to see this book as a movie? Because it presents the most amazing story of a Buddhist nun who’s lived more than a century and her great granddaughter that can teach us a lot.

You have just received the most exciting news ever. The royal family has invited you and a friend to have tea with them in the royal palace. Wanting to make a good impression you decide to bring along the most intellectual person you know. So you invite an author whose work is widely regarded as a genius. Who would you bring along to have high tea with the royals?

I’d bring along Roxane Gay. I love her essays, and I’d like to meet her so a tea with the royals seems like a good place to hang out with her. She writes great, her book recommendations never failed me. She has a Ph.D., she had a few teaching jobs at universities like an associate professor of creative writing, so yeah, she’s definitely intellectual and would make a good impression.

You are invited to a wedding tonight. This is no ordinary wedding though. On the couples private island they are flying out your favorite pop star to serenade them that night. You are so excited that you can’t wait to get there. Unfortunately, the island is so remote that it takes at least two days to get there by yacht. Unable to contain your excitement you decide to read a book where music is its main theme. What book are you reading on your two-day yacht trip?

I’ll take a book I’ve seen around that has a title that clearly indicated that music is this book main theme – This Song Will Save Your Life.

Being a socialite isn’t as easy as it seems. Between attending fabulous parties, working with some of the most important people in the world, and mingling with royalty your simply exhausted. So you pack up and go to an exclusive resort in Tulum, Mexico to get some well-deserved relaxation. Of course, you can’t go anywhere without a few books. What books would bring to read on your tropical retreat?

I’ll take a few books from my TBR list of fantasy that I’ve been meaning to read for a long time. That is The Name of The Wind,  Vicious and Throne of Glass.

I love all of your answers (And thanks for giving my Book Style posts a shout out!…There’s a new one coming out this afternoon!) Not Working sounds like a great read! In fact, they all sound like great reads.

I particularly love your answer to the Hollywood IT girl question. Too much whitewashing!

I was not thrilled with this week’s TTT theme either as I am not a big TV watcher. I really really want to read Juliet Takes A Breath!!! I’ve been seeing it everywhere since I love to follow the Diverse Books Movement that has such a huge presence on Twitter.
